Part of the Pyrenees, the valley is made up of 15 towns (the main one being Elizondo) and is the largest single municipality in Navarre. The landscape is dotted with numerous and scattered farmhouses and the climate is mild in both winter and summer.

This is an excellent area for hiking. From Eugui, take the N-174 to Irurita.
Mountain climbing is another option, the highest peaks being Sayoa (1419 m), Garzaga (1296 m), Okolin (1362 m), Abartán (1095 m), Iparla (1047 m) and Alkurrunz (934 m).
